Rabbi Scott Hausman-Weiss
Rabbi Scott Hausman-Weiss is the founding rabbi of Congregation Shma Koleinu in Houston, Texas, an innovative “synagogue without walls” dedicated to welcoming all Jews, Jewish families, and those who love them without membership or dues requirements. Ordained by Hebrew Union College–Jewish Institute of Religion in 1999, where he also earned master’s degrees in Hebrew Letters and Jewish Education, Rabbi Scott has spent more than two decades building creative, accessible Jewish community and guiding individuals and families through meaningful Jewish life experiences. Before founding Shma Koleinu, he served for 12 years as Rabbinic Director of Education and Outreach at Temple Emanuel in Birmingham, Alabama, and later as senior rabbi of Congregation Emanu El in Houston. Known for his warmth, creativity, and passion for relational Jewish engagement, Rabbi Scott has particular expertise in working with young adults, couples, and interfaith families, helping them explore how Jewish tradition, ritual, and community can enrich their lives. His most important “position,” is husband to Natalie, and father to Abraham (Sole) and Samuel Hausman-Weiss.
