Embark is all about exploring Jewish life. Whether you’re in an interfaith relationship and navigating the complexities of Jewish life today, Embark is a cohort experience that connects you with other local couples and a rabbi to explore Judaism – without the pressure to convert. Connect with other couples in their 20s and 30s and an Embark rabbi as you learn, share, and grow together in a supportive space. Whether you’re curious about tradition or building your own, discover a Jewish life that’s uniquely yours. Embark cohorts consist of 6-10 couples that meet weekly for 6 cohort sessions, a retreat, and a Shabbat dinner.

Rabbi Emily Goldberg Winer

Emily Goldberg Winer serves as one of the clergy at Congregation Beth Sholom, a modern orthodox synagogue in Providence, and works as a hospital chaplain for Brown University. She has previously held rabbinic positions at the Shalom Hartman Institute, Stanton Street Shul, Columbia/Barnard Hillel, the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility, and Genesis at Brandeis. She completed a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at New York Presbyterian Hospital, the Jewish Innovation Fellowship at the 92nd Street Y, the Join for Justice Fellowship, the Wexner Graduate Fellowship, and the Atra Fellowship for Rabbinic Entrepreneurs.

Emily has engaged in programs rooted in religious diversity, first among fellow Jews at the Bronfman Youth Fellowship and Drisha, and later across faiths at the Institute for Jewish-Christian Understanding, Tanenbaum, and Auburn. Emily lives in Providence, Rhode Island with her husband Jonah (Director of Learning at T’ruah) and family. Outside of spiritual care, she engages in local dollhouse politics with her daughters Selah and Emunah, hosts diverse Shabbat meals, and people watches with her friendly Golden Retriever named Barley.
