Rabbi Maddie Cooper

Maddie is a rabbi, educator, and community builder living in Brooklyn, NY. She is deeply passionate about building diverse and pluralistic Jewish communities in which we can bring our whole selves. Maddie currently serves as Manager of Community Cultivation at the Center for Small Town Jewish Life, in partnership with Jewish Federations of North America, where she developed and directs Makom, a new initiative to support innovative leadership in small, rural, and remote Jewish communities nationwide. 

Maddie attended Dartmouth College, where she studied History with a focus on social change. She was ordained in 2022 by the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, where she studied as a Wexner Graduate Fellow. Maddie also holds a MA in Jewish Nonprofit Management from the Zelikow School at HUC-JIR. 

Maddie can frequently be found reading books about the history of New York, making crafts, or searching for the best local coffee and pastries with her wife, Rachel.
