Base Philly will be opening in September 2026!
Our vision for Base Philadelphia is to create the kind of Jewish home that becomes part of the fabric of people’s lives and helps them live lives of even more connection, joy, and purpose. We want Base to be a place where emerging adults in their 20s and 30s find friends, deep Jewish learning, joyful Shabbat and holiday celebrations, pastoral support, and a genuine sense of belonging during one of the most formative stages of adulthood. Philadelphia is where both of our families began building their lives in America. Together, our families’ stories reflect many of the themes we hope to cultivate through Base: rootedness, hospitality, and community.

Rabbi Arielle Krule is the founding rabbi of Base Philadelphia, where she is excited to build joyful, thoughtful Jewish community for young adults through Shabbat dinners, learning, and hospitality in the best city in the world – her hometown, Philadelphia. Ordained by Yeshivat Maharat, Arielle is also a licensed clinical social worker who loves people and learning about their stories.
Before joining Base, she served as Director of Jewish Life and Learning at Luria Academy in Brooklyn and founded Selah, a Jewish community for people in recovery and their loved ones. A Wexner Graduate Fellow and a member of The Jewish Week’s 36 to Watch, Arielle is confident the future of Jewish life is built around tables where people feel known, welcomed, and inspired to create community toegether with their fullest selves. She is moving to Philadelphia with her family this summer and can’t wait to invite you over!
Jackson Krule is a photographer and producer whose work is rooted in people, community, and the stories that connect them. Over the course of his career, he has worked across editorial, sports (Go Birds!), and cultural storytelling, including roles at The Players’ Tribune, The New Yorker, and Instagram, while continuing to pursue independent photography projects centered on Jewish life, identity, and community.
Jackson is thrilled to call Philadelphia home with Arielle, their daughter, Stella, and their dog, Frida. He loves cooking for a crowd, gathering people around a table, and being part of the community that comes together around Base. He’s excited to help create a home where people feel comfortable dropping in, staying for dinner, and becoming part of something meaningful—and to embrace his new role as rebbetzin.
