Identity Statements
Our Values
Mem Global is grounded by the four pillars that guide everything we do:
Jewish Young Adult Focus
We center our work on post-college young adults in their 20s and 30s—a life stage where lifelong connections to identity, culture, and community are formed. By staying laser-focused on this demographic, we can ensure all of our current and new programs continue to support young adults explore and lean into their Judaism rather than drift away from it.
Peer-Driven Approach
Most of our programs are created by young adults, for young adults. This grassroots model allows our content to be curated “from the bottom up” and ensures every gathering feels authentic, personal, and deeply relevant to the people it serves no matter where they are in the world.
Bringing Judaism to Life
From large immersive experiences to intimate gatherings, our content creatively and uniquely meets young adults where they are to make Jewish learning and ritual accessible, meaningful, and relevant.
Authentic and Welcoming
Mem Global programs are welcoming, and pluralistic by nature, with an easy, “come as you are” approach. What makes these spaces truly special is the warmth and trust that come from the people creating them. The “magic” of Mem Global lies in the genuine sense of belonging that blossom through these connections—making every moment feel personal.
Building Connections Between Young Adults and Israel
Mem Global is about creating spaces where Jewish young adults can connect, grow, and explore their Jewish identity as part of a global Jewish community. To us, engaging with the land and people of Israel—and the place it holds in Jewish history, culture, and community—is an essential part of this journey and foster a shared sense of belonging. Because of this, we are deeply committed to building positive relationships between Israel and the young adults we serve. We believe in building positive, meaningful relationships between Israel and the young adults we serve, fostering connections that are rooted in respect, understanding, and shared values.
At Mem Global, we support Israel’s right to exist as a secure, democratic Jewish state. We are proud to provide educational experiences, create lasting relationships with Israelis, and support our staff and programs based in Israel. We recognize that meaningful engagement with Israel requires thoughtful dialogue with each other in ways that honor the diversity of experiences and perspectives within our communities.
In a life stage marked by exploration and ongoing learning, we strive to create spaces where curiosity and complex conversations thrive. We understand that discussions about Israel are deeply personal and often politically charged. As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, Mem Global does not take political positions. Instead, we focus on offering resources and opportunities that help young adults explore their connection with Israel and Jewish peoplehood.
When it comes to Israel related programming, Mem Global programs cannot:
- Endorse, advocate, or serve as a platform for physical harm to Israelis or deny Israel’s right to exist as a secure, democratic Jewish state, including support for or participation in the BDS (Boycott, Divest, Sanction) movement
- Promote or support Anti-Zionist language or platforms
At Mem Global, we believe that both our communities and Israel flourish with open conversations and personal connections. By living out this vision, we build a stronger, more welcoming global Jewish community.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Mem Global
At Mem Global, we believe that Jewish spaces are enriched by the diversity of those who join them. Whether you’re reconnecting with Judaism, exploring it for the first time, or have always felt deeply connected, this is a place for you.
Our communities span the globe and reflect a wide range of identities, Jewish practices and observance levels, languages, perspectives and cultures. We welcome people of all backgrounds, including those who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), LGBTQ+, people with disabilities, interfaith couples, and individuals of all Jewish practices – from secular to observant, and everything in between.
While Mem Global is not politically liberal or conservative, we want to be a place where young adults across the political spectrum can thrive and find their Jewish homes. Similarly, while we are not religiously secular or observant, we want to be a place where young adults across the religious spectrum can find their Jewish homes.
Building a vibrant and diverse future is a shared responsibility that touches every part of our organization—from staff and programs to our board of directors. Achieving this vision requires intentional action and ongoing learning. That’s why we’ve invested in DEI training that includes external experts and partners, such as the Constructive Dialogue Institute, developed guiding principles through our Mem Mindset to inform strategies, regular policy reviews, and initiatives across all levels of Mem Global.
Mem Global is Committed to Being a Place Where:
- Our board, staff and leadership reflect the communities we serve, and actively work to ensure that diversity of thought, experience and personal background is needed, valued and encouraged.
- Everyone engaged in the organization is provided training and education on DEI and on constructive dialogue across differences of opinion, experiences, and viewpoints.
- Accountability is in place to support diversity and inclusion as well as racial and cultural equity.
- Policies, practices, and plans are designed and regularly reviewed with an equity lens, ensuring our work continues to uphold these guiding principles and the Mem Mindset by utilizing the internal DEI committee and, when necessary, outside experts.
For Mem Global to achieve our goals of serving young Jewish adults around the world, we must ensure we are a place where young Jewish adults see themselves as not just participants but also leaders.
