Welcome to Miami: Direct Service Retreat

Join Moishe House for our first direct service retreat! Over President’s Day weekend, we will volunteer, learn about issues impacting the local community, and explore how service is a meaningful way to engage in Jewish life. We will start in Key Largo, getting our hands dirty cleaning up the environment with Repair the Sea, and diving into environmental justice. As we take to the sea in kayaks for water cleans-ups, we will live the Jewish responsibility to steward the environment. The next day we will head into the city to serve alongside Repair the World Miami and their local partners. While in Miami, we will spend time touring the area and experiencing the city’s rich history, learning about what issues its residents face, and taking action to repair the world. Our service will be grounded in Jewish values, wisdom, and history. Please note: To ensure your safety and full participation in the retreat you must be able to swim, lift 15 pounds, and stand/walk for up to three hours at a time. We will be doing direct service/volunteering for a majority of the retreat and therefore the retreat will not be Shomer Shabbat.
