Building Meaningful Connections with Jewish Educators

At Mem Global, we know that personal relationships with rabbis and Jewish educators can transform the way young adults connect with and feel about their Judaism. Whether it’s through one-on-one mentorship, immersive Jewish learning, or content creation, we provide the opportunities, the spaces, and the support for young adults to explore Jewish living and learning that meets them where they are – literally and figuratively.

Across Mem Global, we’re proud to facilitate meaningful relationships with Jewish mentors through all of our programs. Offering young adults unique opportunities to learn, grow, and build relationships with educators who inspire and coach them on their Jewish journeys, initiatives like Base, Embark, and our Jewish Life Specialists exemplify the power of these connections.

“Base has inspired me to open my home and host Shabbat dinners for friends and community members. My circle of Jewish friends has expanded since going to Base and I am more likely to celebrate Jewish holidays knowing the I have a space where I feel comfortable and my friends are also likely to attend. Base has been one of the biggest influences in my Jewish life this year, and I’m grateful for their leadership in our community.”

Base

Base takes Jewish life out of the synagogue and into the rabbinic home, creating a comfortable and inclusive space where young adults can more deeply and personally explore their spirituality and Jewish life. Whether it’s through a Shabbat dinner, text study, or heartfelt conversation, Base offers a pluralistic approach to Judaism that welcomes big questions, meaningful learning, and authentic connections.

  • Personal connections with rabbis that feel like peers for mentorship, meaningful conversations, and pastoral care
  • Shabbat and holiday celebrations that bring young adults together to connect, explore, and build community rooted in Jewish tradition
  • Learning series that dive into everything from Judaism 101 to Talmud Stories You’ve Never Heard Before – offering a fresh, fun, and engaging way to explore Jewish thought, practice, and identity
  • Opportunities to engage in Tikkun Olam, from local service projects to global initiatives to participate in the perfection of our world

Base bridges the gap between ancient tradition and today’s realities, creating spaces where young adults can find the joy in Jewish life.

Embark

Embark is designed for interfaith and mixed-heritage couples, offering an inclusive space to explore Jewish life with the guidance of approachable rabbis (many of whom are Base rabbis, too!). It’s not about defining “a right way” to infuse Jewish tradition into life but rather offering the space and coaching for couples to explore the right way for them to layer Judaism onto the life they are building together. Embark rabbis help couples discover what feels right for them – no prerequisites, no assumptions, and no pressure to convert.  Rather, Embark focuses on connection, conversation, and growth.

Through Embark, couples can:

  • Build meaningful connections with rabbis who provide thoughtful guidance, a listening ear, and support for life’s questions – big and small!
  • Explore Jewish traditions through group conversations or one-on-two sessions, helping couples find ways to integrate meaningful rituals into their lives.
  • Discover a welcoming community of other interfaith or mixed-heritage couples who are navigating similar experiences.
  • Shape their own Jewish journey, finding what right for their lives.

Jewish Life Specialists

Our Jewish Life Specialists (JLSs) inspire, coach, and support Mem Global Community Builders as they create programs enriched with Jewish content and moments of meaning. JLSs meet Community Builders where they are, helping them answer Jewish questions, layer Jewish educational materials that seamlessly integrate into peer-led programs, and deepen their personal connection to Jewish life. Through their work, JLSs:

  • Support Community Builders in planning programs, celebrating holidays navigating Jewish rituals, and infusing Jewish learning in even the most unexpected opportunities
  • Create innovative educational tools for residents and the broader Mem Global community.
  • With in-person and virtual conversations, resource development, and ongoing mentorship, Jewish Life Specialists support young adults to connect with Jewish learning and tradition in ways that feel relevant and are applicable to their lives, both in the overtly Jewish moments and the more mundane “regular” moments too.
