Mem Global FAQs

Mem Global is where young adults in their 20s and 30s come to find Jewish connection, learning, and leadership. Through a mix of creative programs and vibrant communities, we make Jewish life feel meaningful, fun, and totally you.

The name “Mem” is a nod to our roots and a reference to the Hebrew letter mem: מ. The letter mem symbolizes connection, water, and the flow of knowledge and ideas. At Mem Global, everything we do is rooted in connection, creativity, and community, creating pathways for Jewish young adults and Jewish life to thrive.  The letter mem also kind of looks like a house and was part of our first logo when we started as Moishe House in 2006! We were originally called Moishe House after our first funder, Morris Squire. His Hebrew name was Moishe. At Mem Global, everything we do is rooted in connection, creativity, and community, creating pathways for Jewish young adults and Jewish life to thrive.

Yes! Mem Global was previously known as Moishe House. While Moishe House remains a key flagship program under the Mem Global umbrella, we developed an umbrella brand (Mem Global) to better reflect the diverse suite of programs we offer and our mission to connect Jewish young adults worldwide.

Mem Global is home to several programs designed by and for Jewish young adults including:

  • Moishe House: Moishe Houses (3–5 residents) and Pods (2 residents) are home-based hubs for Jewish young adults. From Shabbat dinners to holiday celebrations and everything in between, these Resident-led programs bring people together for meaningful (and fun!) experiences.
  • Moishe House Without Walls (MHWOW): Think of it as a flexible, make-it-your-own approach to Jewish community building. MHWOW lets Jewish leaders create amazing experiences anytime, anywhere – mixing community, fun, and Jewish learning in fresh ways.
  • Camp Nai Nai Nai: A summer camp for adults? Yes, please! Whether on land or at sea, it’s all about reconnecting with your inner child through epic activities, Jewish values, and an unbeatable sense of belonging.
  • Base: A welcoming, pluralistic space led by a rabbi who gets you. Base takes Judaism out of the synagogue and into a home, where you can explore traditions, ask big questions, and find your people.
  • Embark: For interfaith and mixed-heritage couples ready to explore Jewish life and create meaningful traditions together– without the pressure to convert.
  • Mem Global Learning Retreats: Step away from the everyday and dive into inspiring workshops, new friendships, and Jewish learning – all designed to help you recharge and reconnect.
  • Retreatology: Have a big idea for a retreat? We’ll help you make it happen. Retreatology gives you the tools (and the funding!) to plan, host, and bring your dreams to life.
  • Jewish Learning Collaborative(JLC): JLC is bringing 1:1 chose-your-own-adventure Jewish learning to new organizations and learners. JLC helps you connect with Jewish educators to dive deeper into the topics you want to learn about most.

Our programs are open to young adults in their 20s and 30s. Whether you’re exploring your Jewish identity, seeking meaningful learning experiences, or looking to build community, Mem Global has something for you.

Our programs are designed specifically for Jewish young adults in their 20s and 30s because we believe this life stage is full of unique opportunities for growth, connection, and exploration. By focusing on this age group, we create authentic, peer-driven spaces where people can find friends, share experiences, and build meaningful communities together.

Our programs focus on Jewish young adults, but they’re also open to the people in their lives – friends, partners, and anyone exploring Judaism. Programs like Embark are specifically designed for interfaith and mixed-heritage couples, and we aim to create spaces where everyone feels welcome to connect and grow.

Don’t worry – we want you just the way you are! Mem Global community members represent the full range of Jewish identities and lived experiences. Were proud that there are Mem Global community members who come from many different Jewish religious and cultural backgrounds. It’s part of what makes our community special, unique, and warm.

Absolutely! We know that community means something different to everyone, and our programs are designed to meet you where you are. Connect with us to explore which Mem Global program is the perfect fit to help you design your dream Jewish community.

We’re glad you asked! Our programs are led by the very people they’re designed for, making every experience authentic, personal, and just plain awesome. It’s all about meeting you where you are – literally and figuratively.

Nope! Mem Global is proudly pluralistic and our community reflects the diversity of Jewish observance, experience and religious practice. Whether you’re settled in your traditions, still figuring things out, or somewhere in between, you’re welcome here.

Mem Global works with many amazing community partners around the world. We receive philanthropic support from private foundations, Jewish federations, individuals, and Mem Global community members.
