Direct Service – Asheville

Asheville, NC

Join Moishe House for a Direct-Service Retreat to support the ongoing recovery efforts in Asheville, North Carolina, following the devastation of Hurricane Helene. In partnership with Nechama, Jewish Response to Disaster, our volunteer work will focus on both immediate response and long-term recovery, helping to rebuild the Asheville community sustainably. Rooted in Jewish values and wisdom, our service will include daily reflection sessions where we’ll learn about recovery work, explore environmentalism through a Jewish lens, and foster meaningful connections with one another. Come be a part of this impactful journey as we lay the groundwork for a resilient future together.

***Please note: To ensure your safety and full participation in the retreat you must be able to lift 15 pounds and stand/walk for up to two hours at a time. We will be volunteering from 9am-4pm on service days and partaking in physical labor. We will be engaging in direct service/volunteering to celebrate Shabbat and therefore the retreat will not be Shomer Shabbat. No prior disaster response experience is necessary.
