Super Bowl Sunday
INTRODUCTION:
It doesn’t matter who’s playing, gathering friends for a Super Bowl Party is a great way to build community, watch some fun ads, and eat yummy foods. This program is a way to combine all of that and put it in a Jewish context with some Jewish Football Trivia! The Super Bowl will air on Sunday, February 8th, 2026, with Bad Bunny performing at halftime.
MATERIALS:
- Jews in Sports resource sheet
- Jews in Football resource sheet
- Superbowl Food – check out these Jewish themed munchies and snacks
- Television – ability to watch either NBC, Peacock or NFL + app
PROGRAM OUTLINE (3 hours):
- Part One: Encourage people to come in whatever team/sports gear they want
- Part Two: Have fun with your snacks – maybe give them Jewish themed names, share highlights from your city, lean into yummy foods… it’s the Super Bowl!
- Part Three: The easiest way to infuse this program with Jewish content is to utilize tv time outs and quiet moments to offer some Jewish trivia. Using either the Jews in Sports sheet, or the Jews in Football, see who knows the most about Jewish connections.
- Part Four: Don’t forget about the commercials – most likely Robert Kraft will pay for a Blue Square Alliance/ #Stand Up to Hate commercial. Take a moment to talk about what you see.
ADDITIONAL THINGS TO PONDER:
- Are there other commercials that resonate with a Jewish audience?
- Halftime show – get ready for Bad Bunny. What do you think about the blowback that some gave the NFL for choosing someone not born in the USA to perform?
